These options allow you to eliminate Windows 8's Start screen animations, too.Ĭhris Hoffman is the former Editor-in-Chief of How-To Geek. On a modern Windows system, these animations won't really hurt your performance much - but they will make the system seem faster as menus snap into view and windows minimize and restore instantly. Choosing "Adjust for best performance" is a quick way to disable all of them. Click Settings under Performance and use the checkboxes here to control which animations Windows displays. Click the "Advanced system settings" option in the sidebar. To access the animation options, open the Control Panel, click System & Security, and click System. These settings work across every version of Windows, from Windows XP to Windows 7 all the way up to Windows 8 and the Windows 10 Technical Preview. The Windows desktop has long offered convenient options for disabling animations. Sure, the animations are pretty fast already, but waiting for them over and over each day can start to feel silly. Disabling (or just reducing) animations can speed up almost any interface.

4/16/2024 0 Comments 1st grade sight wordsHere is a bibliography of some of the research supporting our approach to sight words instruction: Our sight words teaching techniques are based not only on classroom experience but also on the latest in child literacy research. Many teachers take existing sight word lists and customize them, adding words from their own classroom lessons. There are many newer variations, such as the Common Core sight words, that tweak the Dolch and Fry sight words lists to find the combination of words that is the most beneficial for reading development. Shaywitz, M.D., Professor of Learning Development at Yale University’s School of Medicine. This list consists of the 150 words that occur most frequently in printed English, according to the Word Frequency Book. The Top 150 Written Words is the newest of the word lists featured on our site, and is commonly used by people who are learning to read English as a non-native language. Learning all 1,000 words in the Fry sight word list would equip a child to read about 90% of the words in a typical book, newspaper, or website. Edward Fry developed this expanded list in the 1950s (and updated it in 1980), based on the most common words to appear in reading materials used in Grades 3-9. The Fry Sight Words list is a more modern list of words, and was extended to capture the most common 1,000 words. Once a child knows the Dolch words, it makes reading much easier, because the child can then focus his or her attention on the remaining words. The Dolch sight words comprise 80% of the words you would find in a typical children’s book and 50% of the words found in writing for adults. The list contains 220 “service words” plus 95 high-frequency nouns. Edward William Dolch developed the list in the 1930s-40s by studying the most frequently occurring words in children’s books of that era. The Dolch Sight Words list is the most commonly used set of sight words. There is a great deal of overlap among the lists, but the Dolch sight word list is the most popular and widely used. There are several lists of sight words that are in common use, such as Dolch, Fry, Top 150, and Core Curriculum. Memorizing these words with unnatural spellings and pronunciations teaches not only these words but also helps the reader recognize similar words, such as guy, walk, or some. Non-Phonetic Words - Words that cannot be decoded phonetically, such as buy, talk, or come. For example, knowing just the Dolch Sight Words would enable you to read about 50% of a newspaper or 80% of a children’s book. Memorizing these words makes reading much easier and smoother, because the child already recognizes most of the words and can concentrate their efforts on new words. Frequently Used Words - Words that occur commonly in the English language, such as it, can, and will.If you are new to sight words, start with the teaching strategies to get a road map for teaching the material, showing you how to sequence the lessons and activities. These pages contain resources to teach sight words, including: sight words flash cards, lessons, and games. Sight words are the glue that holds sentences together. You will also hear them referred to as Dolch words or Fry words, the two most commonly used sight words lists. Other terms used to describe sight words include: service words, instant words (because you should recognize them instantly), snap words (because you should know them in a snap), and high frequency words. Sight Words are memorized so that a child can recognize commonly used or phonetically irregular words at a glance, without needing to go letter-by-letter. Knowing common, or high frequency, words by sight makes reading easier and faster, because the reader does not need to stop to try and sound out each individual word, letter by letter. Learning sight words allows a child to recognize these words at a glance - on sight - without needing to break the words down into their individual letters and is the way strong readers recognize most words. Sight words are words that should be memorized to help a child learn to read and write. 4/16/2024 0 Comments Soundbytes bagpipes vstKv331 Audio Synthmaster Vsti Rtas 1 0 5 2 serial makerĪrturia Arp2600 V Vsti rtas 1 2 serial maker Superwave Sw Professional Vsti 2.1 serial Rob Papen Blue Vsti Rtas 1.8.5 serial keys genĪpplied Acoustics Strum Acoustic Gs-1 Vsti Rtas 1 0 2 serial keygenįutureaudioworkshop Circle Vsti Rtas 1 0 2 keygen Korg Legacy Collection Digital Edition Au Vsti Rtas 1.32 crack Refx Vanguard Vsti Rtas 1 8 0 key code generator Toontrack Dfh Ezdrummer Vsti Rtas 1 0 4 keymaker Zplane Vielklang Vsti Rtas 1 5 2 106 keygen Toontrack Ez Player Pro Au Vsti Rtas 1 0 6 serial number makerĪpplied Acoustics Strum Acoustic Gs-1 Vsti Rtas 1 0 serial keygen Rob Papen Subboombass Vsti Rtas 1 0 5 serial keygen Ohmforce Symptohm Melohman Vsti Rtas 1 21 serial maker Way Out Ware Timewarp2600 Vsti Rtas 1.4.1 serial Rob Papen Subboombass Vsti Rtas 1 0 3 serial maker Image-line Harmless Vsti V 1 0 4 keymaker Genuine Soundware All Plugins Bundle Vsti Au 1 0 keygen Izotope Idrum Vsti Rtas 1 6 3 serial keygen Gforce Imposcar Vsti Rtas 1.10 serials key Linplug Albino Vsti 3 1 0 key code generator Ik Multimedia Sample Moog Vsti Rtas 1.0 key generatorĮdirol Hq Orchestral Vsti Dxi 1 01 keygen Luxonix Purity Vsti Au 1 1 2 serial keygen This can be done using nothing but a simple MIDI keyboard with just basic modulator input through pitch bender and modulation wheel.īagpipes Vst Crack Software Soundbytes BagPipes VSTi v1 1 by AiR, 72986 records found, first 100 of them are: Bagpipes Vst Crack Download Gforce Imposcar Vsti Rtas 1 0 1 serial Its elaborately crafted control engine makes it easy to play authentic sounding bagpipe styles and techniques. 4/15/2024 0 Comments Hot big boobed women tumbleeI left the choice of which picture to use to a Patreon poll and the one they chose was this one of the Jade Warriors gal supposedly toweling off in front of the totally not presumed-audience-insert dude. While I was restoring the Jade Warriors tag, I found 2 pictures that I thought were perfect for a caption contest. xD (full animated gif of the scene in the link) And is the purple girl’s… gas tube… thing going in between her clothing and her chest? That seems like it would cause a lot of problems in a fight.Īnyway, somehow none of those are as weird as the bread boobs from the Senran Kagura: Bon Appetit promo video that was submitted to this blog years ago. Girl who is using her buster sword as a microphone’s breasts that are trying to escape from the scene aside, I’m amused by how much mech girl’s boob armor looks like two giant teacups holding her breasts up. Today’s theme is "what is happening with their chests”, though I’m saving one of the more weirder ones for another post because I found some other images to go with it too. The original submission had a lot of images attached, so I decided to break them up into bunches by theme. Being total jiggle show fanservice is 99% of their selling point, but these are some of the character arts that went past fanservice and into the "haha wtf” territory.“ “These are all from Senran Kagura, a series of games from Marvelous Entertainment and Tamsoft about battling shinobi. 4/15/2024 0 Comments Escape 24 gamesHowever, there is a noticeable tradeoff in size, as the rooms were quite tiny, especially if you were to try and fit in the maximum of eight players. Each is beautifully themed and decorated, which makes them unique and memorable. There are more rooms in The Attraction than in most escape rooms. The rest of the puzzles could be independently solved and did not need a high level of intellect and collaboration. Only the beginning felt like a traditional escape room very much in the style of Palace Games’ other rooms, where players had to work together with the whole team. This is a disadvantage for teams who are more experienced in escape room puzzle solving, because it doesn’t support more complex puzzles where multiple players have to work together. As a consequence, the experience suffers from tamer puzzles and less variety. Unlike most escape rooms, The Attraction tends to place only one puzzle or one type of puzzle in a number of smaller rooms. The Attraction is different in its handling of both the string and the pearl parts of this analogy. However, in most escape rooms, there’s very little story except for a literal doorway to pass through at the end of each room. This way, we can think of each room as a pearl, and the transition between these rooms as the string. Usually, escape rooms are series of rooms, and passing from one to the next (usually by unlocking a secret exit) constitutes the completion of all previous puzzles and is irreversible. Escape rooms are a more literal representation of this narrative structure. I’ve written at length about storytelling in games, and explained the string of pearls method in detail. String of Pearls Storytelling Design Technique Applied to Escape Rooms It feels more on rails and sacrifices player agency for a more coherent storyline. This makes the storytelling of The Attraction, for better or worse, more linear than your usual escape room. There wasn’t so much a question of whether we would get through to the next round and escape, but more the understanding that we were going through the puzzles as part of a larger story. The Attraction has puzzles, sure, but these puzzles are not the main focus. This is weird at first, because it felt less competitive, but it made sense with the rest of the design. There’s no large digital clock counting down in the corner, and no real way to officially ask for hints. It’s more apt to think of The Attraction as an interactive story than a traditional escape room. The Attraction‘s Main Focus is its Immersive, Interactive Story Less strategy and collaboration required to solve puzzles.Experience is on rails, with fewer choices about which way to go or what to solve first.Screen-based mini games feel lacklustre and lower the standard of the experience.Unique puzzles that take advantage of physical objects and sets.Room design is well-executed and transports the player.Stellar storytelling with a compelling narrative thread throughout, better than most escape rooms. Many smaller discrete rooms with fewer interconnected parts.Simpler, standalone puzzles that don’t require much collaboration.Stronger focus on story, forming an interactive narrative experience.Overall, The Attraction is more experiential, and less competitive, with: Here’s my spoiler-free review, and a deeper discussion on designing escape rooms. Nevertheless, The Attraction is a rather unique escape room. Perhaps that’s because it’s brand new, and also due to the ongoing pandemic. The Attraction is no exception for the level of detail it contains, but it feels rougher, less polished than the other entries in Palace Games’ catalogue. Located at the Palace of Fine Arts in San Francisco, Palace Games’ escape room offerings are top tier, and consistently have a high production value. But nonetheless, masked and equipped with hand sanitiser, my friends and I were able to experience The Attraction somewhere between Delta and Omicron waves of COVID-19. When I booked it back in early 2020, I had no idea that a pandemic would postpone our date almost two years. Palace Games’ new escape room, The Attraction, was a long time coming. 4/15/2024 0 Comments Sound decibel scaleFor those who work in loud environments and industries such as construction or air traffic control, hearing protection should be considered part of the job. Earplugs and earmuffs are essential tools for preventing hearing loss in loud environments. The most obvious case of this is to utilize hearing protection. There are steps to take that will help you protect your hearing while enjoying the things you love. Just because a rock concert can be loud enough to cause immediate hearing damage doesn’t mean you can’t go see your favorite band play. Informing yourself on common decibel examples is only half the battle. Sounds above 110 dB can cause hearing damage almost immediately. Per NIOSH, a person reaches maximum daily exposure at the following times:Īs you can see, each interval of 3 dB results in half the time needed for hearing loss to occur. Organizations such as the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) have set permissible daily exposure times based on decibel level to help protect workers who are exposed to loud sounds. Guidelines have been issued for total noise exposure. As mentioned, it’s as much about the distance and time exposed as it is about the intensity.
4/15/2024 0 Comments Ptsd symptoms dsm 5 criteriaDespite this, refugees remain under-represented in research on traumatic stress. Refugees and asylum-seekers are often exposed to multiple types of potentially traumatic events (PTEs) and report elevated rates of psychological disorders, including posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD). There are currently an estimated 65.6 million refugees, asylum seekers and internally displaced people worldwide and this number is growing. The psychological presentation of traumatised refugees and asylum seekers is complex and presents a global challenge to public health. Our findings offer preliminary support for the applicability of the Anhedonia model to a culturally diverse refugee sample, and contribute to a growing body of studies which indicate that the DSM-5 model may not best represent the symptom structure of PTSD found across non-western conflict-affected populations. Instead, we found preliminary evidence in support of the six-factor Anhedonia model, comprising the symptom clusters of re-experiencing, avoidance, negative affect, anhedonia, dysphoric arousal and anxious arousal, as the superior model for our data. However, an examination of relative fit revealed that the DSM-5 model provided the poorest fit overall for our sample. Resultsįindings from five confirmatory factor analyses (CFAs) revealed that all models demonstrated acceptable model fit. All measures were translated into Arabic, Farsi or Tamil using rigorous translation procedures, or provided in English. MethodsĪ total of 246 refugees settled in Australia were assessed using the Harvard Trauma Questionnaire, to measure exposure to potentially traumatic events (PTEs), and the Posttraumatic Diagnostic Scale, to assess symptoms of PTSD based on DSM-5 criteria. The current study assessed the construct validity of the DSM-5 PTSD structure in a refugee sample from a variety of cultural backgrounds alongside four alternate models commonly identified in western populations, namely the four-factor Dysphoria model, the five-factor Dysphoric Arousal model, and the six-factor Anhedonia and Externalising Behaviours models. The symptom structure of PTSD underwent a major revision in the recent formulation in the fifth edition of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-5), and this reformulation has yet to be comprehensively investigated in the context of PTSD arising from traumatic events experienced by refugees. Considering this, refugee populations merit continued research in the field of traumatic stress to better understand the psychological impact of these experiences.
